A vintage baby shower with a modern twist
Vintage baby shower with a modern twist
Mum-to-be, Chloe, loves everything about celebrations and get togethers, so when it came to putting together her baby shower at Mr Lawrence in Port Melbourne to celebrate the impending arrival of her little girl, she relished the opportunity.
She looked at local party supply websites to get an idea of what was available for the modern touch and called on the Betty May crew to bring in the vintage undertone and pull the two looks together.
“I love the alphabet gold balloons and tassel garlands from Poppies for Grace and decided they would be the main feature above the cake table,’ said Chloe. ‘I also knew that I wanted the cake to be the hero of the table and that everything had to match the pinks and gold in the invitation.’
Chloe bought gold foil balloons to spell out “Oh Baby”, honeycomb balls, a pink and gold tassel garland, party favour bags and large table confetti from Poppies for Grace. Betty May provided the vintage decanters and bottles to hold fresh blooms, easel & blackboard, vintage tablecloth, cake stand, cake slide & knife, menu card holders and compote bowls to complement the party items and the colour theme.
Betty May also took care of the cake and party favours by Sweet Bakes, the gold animal place card holders, the place cards in pink calligraphy by the Graphic Quill, the printed material for the games, the fresh flowers, and decorated the room with Polaroid style prints of Chloe and her partner, Brin, as babies for a personal touch.
The result was a modern take on the vintage look that will appeal to mum-to-be’s. It’s also a look that will work for a kitchen tea party, bridal shower and birthday. Check it out below.
