A casual, laidback pub wedding
A low key pub wedding
Holly and Evan are an easy, laidback kinda couple. So they wanted to reflect that in their wedding. Their ceremony was held at St Kilda Botanical Gardens, and their reception at the Railway Hotel in the neighbouring suburb of South Melbourne.
The inspiration for their wedding was a low-key, relaxed and easy, good old knees up with their nearest and dearest. They had been engaged for a couple of years and had a beautiful daughter in that time, so they wanted to pull it all together relatively fuss free without any ‘wedding planning’ stress.
After a bit of research of nearby pubs to the gardens, The Railway was the perfect choice. Close by, it’s a great old boozer of a pub with an indoor and outdoor area that can be booked for private functions. And the staff were particularly helpful – even helping us out with the set up of the decor!
The pub has a great feel to it, so it didn’t need a lot of dressing up. Just a few little touches from our collection. So we put together the eclectic display of props for the gift table; our easel and blackboard directed guests to the ceremony and reception; our lolly jars accompanied the incredible crockenbush wedding cake; our jar candles and wire handled jars filled with candles lit up the inside and outside; and our milk bottles filled with gorgeous dahlias and hydrangeas softened the space.
This wedding was definitely different to the norm – it didn’t feel too formal. It felt like a fun night out celebrating with all of Holly and Evan’s friends and family, with great food and good music. Check out some photos below.
