A rustic 40th in winter
Turning 40 in winter didn’t deter Rachael from celebrating with 40 of her closest family and friends. Instead, it made for the perfect time of the year to put on a warm, rustic and boozy affair with lots of DIY details in ‘The Stables’ at her home.
The Stables weatherboard exterior, exposed beams, concrete floors and pot belly stove provided the rustic backdrop for an extravagant grazing table and boozy bar complete with a barrel of port while a fire pit outside, strings of fairy lights and an abundance of candles brought the light and warmth.
Floral bombs with orchids, roses, natives and foraged foliage (from her parents property) hung overhead and flowers in red, orange and yellow hues sat beautifully in our vintage brown and amber bottles, all arranged and installed by Rachael’s sister and sister-in-law.
More personalised touches included the naked cake homemade by Rachael’s mum, Shiraz made by her dad, the same port drank at her wedding, a carefully curated playlist, and a stand out grazing table supplied and styled by Rachael and her sister-in-law.
For those of you looking to throw your own party at home, Rachael’s advice is, “have fun with it – and don’t be afraid to make the effort to do something a little different. With some simple DIY styling the party felt relaxed and warm, but still memorable. I loved seeing everyone’s faces when they walked into the party!”
Jess White Photography was on hand to capture the rustic beauty and we supplied all the tableware, glassware, grazing table props, cake stands, bar cart, crates, candles and blankets.
